Open borders

Something to which humanity might aspire rather than celebrate closing? With a nod to Zack Polanski, and my dear, late brother Willmie, this is my thought for Christmas Day (“Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free”) –

Imagine there’s no heaven
It’s easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us, only sky
Imagine all the people, living for today
Imagine there’s no countries
It isn’t hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people, living life in peace
You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will be as one
Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people, sharing all the world
You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will live as one

  1. Wishing you a peaceful and meaningful Christmas. This is such a beautiful reflection, and quietly radical in the best way. Those words always remind me that imagining a gentler world is not naïve, it’s necessary. I hope today holds a little light for you, and for all of us.
