Wonders of wildlife in Norfolk part III, RSPB Titchwell Marsh

As with Snettisham this is a conflation of two visits, on the second of which I decided to go off on my own. Rather than searching for a particular species, my favourite kind of birdwatching is from a hide, with my camera and kit, seeing what’s there. It’s a gorgeous place. It also allowed us to add Brown Rat no less to our species lists.

Various images of Teal, one seeming to have a curious, inquisitive air:

Thanks to their strong plumage markings, I found that Ruffs photograph particularly well, as do Snipe, further down:

Avocets:

Snipe (always nice to include a reflection), featured at the head of the post, with a Ruff in the first photo below:

Greylag Geese:

This white goose would be descended from farmed geese:

Common Redshank:

Lapwing:

Pied Wagtails, the juveniles distinguished by their yellow cheeks:

I was probably most excited by two firsts for me, this stunning Wheater and below a flock of Golden Plover (there were around 100):

The sun was right behind these Golden Plover so it was difficult to get much more than a silhouette:

And not to forget this pair of Starlings:
