See Animal Wild for an account of the wonderful Dark Skies area around Elan Valley in Wales, but I am pleased to see the beginnings of a gentle local campaign which has featured in our parish newsletter, beautifully illustrated by local artist David Thomas. I am hoping to ask him for permission to reproduce one or two of them here. Dark skies are of course good for wildlife, good for astronomers and, we believe, good for the soul. There will be more on this to follow but in the meantime it’s a good excuse to publish this picture which shows off the crazy zoom capacity of my camera.
