Butterflies at last

Only a few, and only one or at most two of each species to visit the garden this year, but it is something I suppose. The Comma above (love the name), readily identifiable by its somewhat raggedy appearance has been the only one to begin to stay still long enough to be photographed, but I have also seen a Red Admiral, a Peacock, a Great White and a Brimstone.

Update: and a Small Heath or possibly Gatekeeper (this is not my forte).

Other pleasures have been the Cow parsley looking particularly resplendent:

This blue cornflower:

Clematis (for some reason I don’t seem to have much luck with climbers):

Also ragwort:

If you subscribe to the common myths about ragwort, please see Animal Wild.

Daisy with oregano/marjoram (never sure of the difference) flowers:

Field bindweed:

I have also been delighted to observe what I am fairly sure is a small family of field voles with at least one youngster (volelet?)
